Every job crosses your counter
You inherit a run-down guild and a counter between two lines of people: adventurers looking for work, and townsfolk with problems nobody else will touch. Every job is your call. Take it or turn it away, pick the blade, set the time and decide how the fee is split.
A year at the counter is 181 days. Rent falls due every seventh day, the Crown sets a quota and the royal inspector reads your books. Three strikes and the guild is taken from you. Do well, and the crumbling shack becomes a house the best blades in the land want to work for.
How the guild runs
Match heroes to jobs
Every hero has skills and every contract names the ones it needs. Send the right blade and the job gets done; send the wrong one and you may not see them again.
Haggle the fee
Clients name a fee and heroes want their cut. Squeeze too hard and they remember it; deal straight and they come to your counter first.
Lend the right gear
Potions, blades and charms on your shelf change the odds. Some gear comes home with a living hero, some is gone for good.
Deaths are permanent
A hero who does not come home is gone, and the day's report tells you why: the days you cut, the gear you kept back, or a client who lied about the work.
The Crown is watching
Rent every seventh day, a quota every term and a royal inspector reading your books. Three strikes and the guild is seized.
A rival across the square
A rival house posts its own count beside yours every day, and it climbs faster on every caller you turn away.
