What is in the test?
The closed alpha is the first stage where we test DEADGATE's core loop with real players.
- Multiplayer raids: go in solo or with a squad of up to four, take a contract, finish the job and extract
- Other squads on the same island: every squad has its own contract, and fights start where routes cross
- The quarantined island: two towns, villages, industry, a military camp and a hospital
- A world where the dead see, hear and hunt you
- Localized injuries, bleeding, hunger and thirst
- Loot, inventory, weight and gear risk
- New systems and updates arriving in waves throughout the test

We select players in waves. If you are selected, your Steam key arrives by email.
Activate on Steam
Activate the key on Steam, download the game from your library and drop onto the island.

Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything?
No. The closed alpha is completely free; you do not need to buy anything.
Do testers get anything for taking part?
Yes. We will not revoke the Steam keys we send for the alpha. If you activate your key on your own Steam account, DEADGATE stays in your library after the test, and when the game goes on sale on Steam you keep owning it at no extra cost. If I apply, am I guaranteed a spot?
No. We select players in waves based on a mix of hardware, region and availability. Applications not selected may be reconsidered in later waves.
Do I need a Steam account to apply?
You don't need to sign in with Steam to apply; filling in the form and verifying your email is enough. To play, you need a free Steam account: if you are selected, you activate the key on your own Steam account. Everyone can apply only once; we don't consider second applications from the same person.
When will I hear back?
Once you verify your email you get a confirmation that your application was received. If you are selected, your Steam key also arrives by email; the first invitations go out before the test starts.
How do I activate my Steam key?
In Steam, open Games > Activate a Product on Steam and enter the key, or use the link in the email. The game then appears in your library.
Is there multiplayer?
Yes. DEADGATE is a multiplayer extraction shooter: you go onto the island solo or with a squad of up to four, and other squads are there too. The closed alpha is where we test multiplayer raids. If you want to play with friends, each of you needs to apply separately; keys are personal.
Can I share screenshots or stream?
Yes. From the moment the test starts on October 30, 2026, you can share screenshots, videos and live streams. Please mark your posts “Alpha version, not final”, and do not share content that teaches cheats or exploits. Details: Participation Terms.
Will my progress be wiped?
It may be. Progress and inventory can be reset during the alpha; that is a natural part of testing.
How do I withdraw my application?
Write to us through the contact page or from the email address you applied with, and we will delete your application and your data.
